Prominent disclosure
How BeMyDD uses your location
A two-driver ride only works if both drivers and the customer can see each other on the map. This page explains exactly what we collect, when, and why. It is the human-readable companion to the disclosure shown inside the apps before any location permission is requested.
Drivers
The BeMyDD Driver app collects precise location data while you are online and during an active job, including when the app is closed or not in use.
Why
- Dispatch. While you are online, your position decides which jobs are offered to you and which teammate you are paired with.
- Live tracking. During a job, the customer sees both drivers approaching, and Driver B sees where to find Driver A after the drop-off.
- The handoff. The retrieval of Driver A is the part of the ride no other service has to do. It needs Driver B to keep following even when the phone is in a pocket or mount with the screen locked. That is why the driver app asks for "Allow all the time".
When it stops
Location sharing stops when you go offline and when a job completes or is released. It is never collected while you are offline.
Customers
The BeMyDD customer app uses your location only while you are using it: to set your pickup point and to show your drivers approaching on the map. It does not run in the background.
What we keep and share
- Live positions are streamed between the people on the ride and kept as sparse snapshots for the ride record and receipt. The final route of a trip is stored with the ride.
- If a customer shares their trip, the link shows location and ETA only, never the price.
- Location data is never sold. Our sub-processors and retention periods are listed in the Privacy Policy.
Your controls
- Change the permission at any time in your phone's Settings. The driver app tells you when the setting is too limited to work a job.
- Delete your account from the Account screen in the app, or e-mail info@bemydd.co.
